Firmware Fixes / Issues Resolved:

Updated Features:

- Added Start-Up options within the Pan & Tilt Settings page. This
page allows the same functionality as older indoor MJPEG models,
where you can set the camera to boot to a preset, disable the start-up
pan/tilt, or allow it to center upon rebooting.

- Adjusted certain video parameters to increase the clarity of video.
Also added a new 4M stream which improves the video quality. This
stream was made default. The 2M stream is still available in cases
where bandwidth issues arise.

- Disabled the Foscam DDNS by default; this was done as a security
precaution. To use the DDNS you will have to manually enable it by
going to the DDNS Settings page.

- Added the camera name and alarm timing on alarm e-mail subject lines.
This prevents the alarms from being stacked into multiple e-mails on
certain providers like G-mail. This was also done due to some end-users
receiving the e-mail in their spam folders.

- Added the ability to scan up to 100 wireless networks and show them
in the wireless network list. Wireless networks are now sorted by signal
strength, so the best signal networks will appear first.

- Added support to fetch an MJPEG HTTP URL stream, similar to older
MJPEG camera functionality. To see the steps on how to achieve this,
read our forum post here:
http://foscam.us/forum/how-to-fetch-snapshots-and-mjpeg-stream-on-the-fi9821w-02w-t4328.html

- Added support to fetch JPG pictures by snapshot CGI commands, similar
to older MJPEG camera functionality. To see steps on how to achieve this,
read our forum post here:
http://foscam.us/forum/how-to-fetch-snapshots-and-mjpeg-stream-on-the-fi9821w-02w-t4328.html

FIXES:

- Fixed an issue where wireless password settings didn’t seem to be
saved on the wireless settings page after rebooting the camera. In
reality, the settings would be saved, but this was not indicated on
the display page. This has been fixed.

- Changed the interval of alarm images to 1 second.

- Fixed an issue where the playback speed of recordings was not
synchronized, video would playback much faster than normal. This has
been fixed.

- Fixed a bug where camera settings could be seen when logging in as
a visitor or operator if the plug-in was not installed.

- Fixed an issue where iOS mail servers could not receive or see alarm
pictures.

- Fixed a bug where the OSD on alarm images would not change.

- Fixed a bug where FTP connections were not being closed after uploading
images, causing multiple open connections on the FTP server.

- Several grammar and spelling issues have been fixed.

- Fixed an issue where VLC player could not play recordings.

- Improved the algorithm for motion detection, which should reduce false alarms.

- Fixed a bug where configuration files would not change even when setting
the recording path manually.

- Removed the default operator and visitor accounts for security purposes.

- Improved sensitivity in detecting smaller objects when selecting the
alarm detection area.

- Fixed a bug where users on Mac OS 10.8 were not able to select an
alarm detection area in Safari.

New Features / Issues Being Addressed:

- Adjusting the level of sound when using audio. This feature will be
implemented in firmware updates by March/April.

- NVR/NAS support, as well as RTSP support. Implementing RTSP will
allow for NVR support, this feature has been confirmed to be added in
firmware updates by March/April.

- Inverting Pan/Tilt when mirroring or flipping the image. This is a
priority and will also be implemented in the next firmware update by March/April.

This is the latest guide for setting up a DNS hostname. Before we used to recommend to use DynDNS but unforuntaley it isn’t free anymore. We now recommened no-ip.com for your free DNS hostname.

Step 1:
Visit the website at no-ip.com to start your free DNS hostname.

Step 2:
After register, you will receive an email from no-ip.com to activate your email address. Click on the link that is attached to your email to activate the account.

Step 3:
Log in with the information that you registered to create your domain name.

Step 4:

After logging in, choose Add a Host button, enter the domain name that you’d like to use (example: foscamus) and choose the domain (example: no-ip.org).

Step 5:

Once you’ve added the host that you’d like to use, find the IP of the camera that you’d like to use this hostname on. After logging into the camera, it’s time to upgrade the camera to the latest firmware and webUI. Under the camera settings, go to the section called “Device Management”, once there click on the option that says “Upgrade Device Firmware”. On the page for upgrading, you will see two type of upgrades, one is for firmware and the other is for Web UI. You may download the latest firmware/webUI from here/.

Step 6:

Once that is done, you will need to go back to your IP address that matches your camera to enter in the data that you just chose. Under the option “Device Management”, choose the option called “DDNS Service Setting” and under this option you will be entering the data that you received from no-ip.com.

Step 7:
Once the camera has restarted itself, log in to the access the camera and once logged in, check to see if DDNS Status says No-Ip has succeed or failed. If failed, then it will require you to re-enter the No-Ip information as stated in step 4.

Step 8:
After checking to see if the DDNS status is successful, you will now need to set up port-forward. In order to port forward, you must have access to your router. For example, the router we are using is Linksys E3200 and the IP address for this particular router is 192.168.1.1. If your using a different router, please check with your provider or check with your routers manufacture website for that information.

Step 9:
If you cannot figure out how to port forward, please visit our Support page as there are multiple guides on each major router. To check to if your camera is successfully port forward, please visit whatismyip.com and use that IP address with the port number that you chose for port forwarding (example xxx.xx.xxx.xxx:8080). If you can see the login page for your camera, you have successfully port forwarded and move to step 8.
If you cannot see the login page for your camera, please use the port forwarding guides to set it up.

Step 10:
To see if the hostname that you chose for No-Ip works, enter in the address bar http:// Domain name + HTTP Port. For example: http://foscamus.no-ip.org:8081.
If you can see the login information, you have completed the guide.

This is the guide on setting up your IP Cameras to be able to see more than one of your cameras at a time.

Must Read: Before we even get to step one, you must first understand that the only way to view multiple cameras is if you use Internet Explorer, no other browser supports multi-devices yet. And you will also need to enable ActiveX Controls, normally Internet Explorer will prompt you to enable it if it is not already enabled. If you still have problems with ActiveX Controls, please check out our guide on ActiveX Controls by clicking here.

1) First Log into your camera and goto “For Administrator” and then “Multi-Device Settings”

2) Select “The 2nd Device” and input an Alias if you like, the Host which should be the IP of the other camera, and the Port will be the port of your other camera.

3) Put in the Username and Password for the camera you are adding and press submit.

4) You can press back (in the bottom left corner) to go back to viewing your camera, and then you can press ‘For Visitor’ and select the interface for 1, 4, or 9 Cameras.

And that is it, if you have any more cameras you can just repeat step 2 and 3 again with the new cameras info.

The port forwarding set up is reliant upon the specific brand and model number of the router being used. Port forwarding of a router is required to allow access to your network device. Regardless of the DLink Router being used, the process for port forwarding is essentially similar. You will need to enable ports by locating the port range-forwarding screen. Withsome Linksys routers the port forwarding screen is located within the Applications and Games orFilters tab; in others it is located in the advance tools tab. The set up instruction outlined belowis an example of port forwarding using Linksys Model WRK54GV2.

Step 1
Open your web browser. Enter the router IP address in the address bar as shown below

Step 2
Some router/modems require a username and/or password, if yours requires it, enter the routers username and password here. Then click “Log In”
If you have changed it and don’t remember it you may have to reset your device to factory default using the reset button on most routers.
If you don’t know it you can check the user manual for your router.
