Beware of Amazon.com
We would like users to be really aware and careful when purchasing Foscam cameras from Amazon.com. We recently purchased a camera from an Amazon seller who claimed to be an authorized distributor and what we received was a Foscam clone. In addition, not only was it a clone, but the clone was drop shipped from China despite the description stating that it was going to ship from New Jersey. Buyers, please be aware of this and do not risk getting a faulty knock off camera just to save a few dollars. We have reported this violation to Amazon and the seller is in the processed of being removed. (As a rule of thumb, anyone selling a Foscam for under $100 on Amazon or Ebay is more than likely a scam).
I will put up pictures and do a review and comparison of the clone against the real deal so you can see the differences. In the meantime, I would like any other users who have purchased knockoffs/clones to please leave a comment indicating the name of the seller as well as the marketplace( from which they purchased it (e.g., Ebay, Amazon, etc). Doing this will allow us to better protect users from being ripped off by criminal pirates and bootleggers (against whom we will be taking legal action).

I purchased what I think is a Foscam camera. This is the link.

I got the camera to work for in a wired configuration, but not wirelessly. In trying to get the wireless working, the camera somehow died. The IP camera tool now says “Web UI does not exist, dbclick to upgrade !”
Unfortunately, I have no upgrade software. Your download cite doesn’t work, and I cannot find the Web UI elsewhere.

This is why we recommend you purchase from Foscam.us only. You should file a complaint with Amazon and get your money back.

ALSO,
The amazon camera regularly “reports” back to China at the IP adress 121.37.59.145, through port 10005. Not sure yet what info it sends. Will look into it.

I had already ordered a camera from amazon before I found your website. How can I tell the difference between the clone and the real thing? Also, how can i stop the amazon camera from reporting back to IP 121.37.59.145, is there a way to put a block on it?

How can I tell if it’s a knockoff and not a real foscam??? I bought from (Sold by: LoftK) on Amazon. On the box it says foscam and it has the latest firmware on the web interface. Is there any way to tell?
Don’t like to get fakes and will let Amazon know if that is the case.
Thanks

I purchased a Foscam FI8905W Outdoor Wireless/Wired IP Camera with 30 Meter Night Vision and 12mm Lens (22° Viewing Angle) – Silver
Sold by: E-Bundle
Got a counterfeit instead
Chinese knockoff which attempted to connect to a random server. Foscam seems to have a official listing at amazon so while searching for a camera, I came across that camera and decided to buy.
You can put warnings all you want on this site, but the fact is, I did not find the site until I got the counterfeit and in my research I tried the foscam website.

I just bought it from Amazon.com, the reseller was called “Cable Volume”. Are they kosher? My camera works fine wired, but I can’t get it to work wirelessly. Is there any way I to determine if my camera is a genuine FOSCAM camera or not? Thanks!

Hi,
You mentioned you would post pictures of the real vs fake. Do you have those? I bought on Amazon from a seller who is listed as ok on foscam.com. Based on other sites that have info on fakes I recieved a fake so I returned it. The seller is adamate that I didn’t get a fake.
Thanks!
