How Wi-Fi Cameras Can Keep Your Pets Safe When You’re Away

Anyone who owns a pet understands that the dogs, cats, gerbils, and parakeets who share our lives are much more than just animals – they’re family.  And because of that strong connection, it’s only natural to want to do everything in our power to keep our furry (or feathery) friends safe and happy.

Unfortunately, as much as we’d like to be able to stay home all day to keep a watchful eye on Fido or Snowball, someone’s got to keep that supply of doggie treats and chew toys coming, and kitty scratching posts certainly don’t pay for themselves.

So how can you ensure that your pets remain safe and happy while you’re busy at work all day?

You don’t have to cross your fingers and rely blindly on those pet training sessions anymore. With a wi-fi camera from Foscam, you can keep an eye on Fido all day, right from your office computer or your smart phone. Here are just a few of the ways in which a wi-fi camera can help you keep your pet safe while you’re away.

Pet Safety

1. Monitor your pet’s activities when no one’s home. Even the best-trained pets can sometimes act up a little when no one’s around. You may not even realize that your cat can reach into the aquarium, or that your dog has been steadily eating a hidden section of your couch. Having the ability to monitor what your pets are doing all day gives you invaluable insight into the right steps to take to keep them safe. Maybe it’s time to put up a baby gate, or get a new chew toy. By knowing exactly what’s going on, you’ll be able to quickly take action to prevent any harm to your pets.

2. Keep an eye out for emergencies. Burglars and house fires are an unfortunate reality, but they’re not the only emergencies that you might catch while watching your pet on an IP camera. A piece of that new rawhide bone may get stuck in your dog’s airway, or a falling object may trap your cat in a dangerous situation. Emergencies like these won’t set off any alarms, but they could have effects just as devastating, if left untended to until the end of the workday. Having a wi-fi camera in place allows you to call a neighbor to help, or even to rush home on your lunch break to rectify the situation before it gets any worse.

3. Observe human-pet interactions. Maybe you’ve hired a pet sitter to walk your dog while you’re away, or maybe your housekeeper has told you your cat acts aggressively towards her. It’s always a good idea to have a way to see exactly how your pets are being treated by the people you trust to care for them when you’re not around. There may be a reason your cat is lashing out – or it could be he just needs to be confined to a different area of the house when your housekeeper comes. Keeping an eye on the situation with an IP camera is the only way to know for sure.

Making sure that furry family members are safe is a top priority for any pet owner. By setting up a few wi-fi cameras in strategic locations around your house, you’ll gain the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ll always be there for them when they need you, even when you’re not at home.
