This is the guide on setting up your wireless router to maintain a static external IP address using the DynDns.com Free Service.
In order to set up DynDns on your camera, do the following:
1) Goto the DynDns Website and start by setting up a Free Domain Name

2) Make sure to record your Username, Password, and the Hostname you have selected.
3) Now log in to your camera; if you are using Internet Explorer, click on For Administrator tab, if you are using Firefox click on the Device Management tab.
4) Then Select DDNS Service Settings and under DDNS Service select DynDns.org(dyndns)

5) Plugin your information accordingly and submit.
Your router should now maintain a static external IP address, which will be your hostname (yourrouter.dyndns-mail.com). If you have already followed our port forwarding guide you can test this by typing in your hostname into the browser and adding your cameras respective port at the end to access it.

This guide will assist you in setting up your Foscam IP Camera to send pictures to your Email.
1) First log in to your camera; then, if you are using Internet Explorer, click on the For Administrator tab. If you are using Firefox then click on the Device Management tab.
2) Then Select Mail Service Settings on the left side panel.
3) Here you need to input your SMTP information including username, password and SMTP server. Most ISP’s such as AOL and Roadrunner will provide you with this, however if they do not you will have to seek a 3rd party company to supply you with one. (Note: GMX, Gmail and Hotmail will not work). Then enter the sender and receiver Email address. See below for an example.

4) Click submit before you click test.
5) Now, in order to get your Motion Detection to start working you will need to log into your camera again and goto Alarm Service Settings and check the box for Motion Detect Armed.

We would like users to be really aware and careful when purchasing Foscam cameras from Amazon.com. We recently purchased a camera from an Amazon seller who claimed to be an authorized distributor and what we received was a Foscam clone. In addition, not only was it a clone, but the clone was drop shipped from China despite the description stating that it was going to ship from New Jersey. Buyers, please be aware of this and do not risk getting a faulty knock off camera just to save a few dollars. We have reported this violation to Amazon and the seller is in the processed of being removed. (As a rule of thumb, anyone selling a Foscam for under $100 on Amazon or Ebay is more than likely a scam).
I will put up pictures and do a review and comparison of the clone against the real deal so you can see the differences. In the meantime, I would like any other users who have purchased knockoffs/clones to please leave a comment indicating the name of the seller as well as the marketplace( from which they purchased it (e.g., Ebay, Amazon, etc). Doing this will allow us to better protect users from being ripped off by criminal pirates and bootleggers (against whom we will be taking legal action).

Foscam.us was under attack by hackers over the weekend who targeted our website and our live demo subjecting it to a denial of service attack. We have upgraded our servers and secured our connections and everything should be fine now. The live demo is back up and working 100%.

Here is a clue as to just how popular Foscam Wireless IP Security Cameras have become at this moment: Google Insights comparison of the searches or “interest” over time for the words “foscam” and “wireless ip camera”
Source: www.google.com/insights/search
The reason for the demand is simple: these cameras have the ability to provide full featured wireless IP video features at half the price of its closest competitor. What separates Foscam from other inexpensive cameras is their ability to outlast cameras which are double its price. Although it does have its quirks, it is remarkably reliable and makes for a great first IP camera to get started with this great technology.
Foscam Wireless IP Cameras are on the cutting edge of the consumer ip camera market. Their claim to fame is their unique ability to deliver live ip video and audio through a web browser or an iphone using the internet. With their built in “ip video server” they offer full remote control pan/tilt, network video storage and motion detection with alerts sent directly to your email. They are currently the best bang for you buck pan/tilt ip camera and come with a one year warranty.

Thank you for your cooperation). To get an idea of the popularity of Foscam Cameras at the moment, click here: http://www.google.com/insights/search/#q=foscam%2Cwireless%20ip%20camera&cmpt=q
Outdoor Camera Demo URL:

Please note that there are two “Login” buttons.
If you are using Firefox or Chrome use the second “Login” button. If you are using IE, use the first “Login” button and make sure to install the Add-on ActiveX Control Module through the popup at the top of the screen.
If you are using IE and running Windows 7 but are having trouble installing the Active X Control Module with Internet Explorer, you need to change your Internet Options as instructed on this website: http://www.windowsreference.com/internet-explorer/windows-has-blocked-this-software-because-it-cant-verify-the-publisher/
If you cannot hear sound, login with IE and goto the “For Visitor” mode. Also, use the Visitor mode to see more than one camera at a time.

Port Mapping for Airport.
1) Go to your finder and type in Airport in the search and find your Airport Utility program.
2) If it prompts you to be configured manually or not select Manual
3) Find the Advanced Tab at the top and select it
4) Choose the Port Mapping option here, or depending the “IPV6Firewall” (You will have one or the other)

When you try to access your camera over the internet when you are away from your local network, the external IP address to your router will be used. But, you need to be able to direct the incoming connection straight to your camera. This is particularly important when you want to address multiple cameras. You will add a special port number to the external IP address. Port mapping tells the router which device is accessed by which port. To start adding ports you must click the little “+” sign at the bottom and you will see something similar to the screen below.

In the dialog box that comes up, leave the ‘Choose a service” dropdown menu untouched. Enter the Private IP address for the camera, as it appears in IP Scanner. Assign a port number to the camera, that isn’t being used by anything else like 81, 82, 83, etc. (see Well known TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629?viewlocale=en_US).
Be sure to click on the Update button after making these changes to upload them to your Airport.
Now go back to your cameras interface and under Basic Network Settings verify that the “Http Port” is the same as the port that you forwarded.
You should be just about done by now, you can try out your routers external IP Address which can be found on the router (or by googling “whatsmyip”) and at the end of it put the port of your camera for example port 81 (Example:24.184.95.217:81). And you should be done.
If you are having any trouble check out the detailed guide for PC’s as the process is very similar, yet the PC version is far more detailed and it may be able to help you.

The Foscam Wireless Indoor IP Camera works on the Iphone using the standard Safari Browswer with no additional apps necessary. However, people have started to develop Iphone apps for the Foscam which add greater functionality. For example, check out the Foscam IPhone Control App:
iPhone apps at AppStoreHQ
I haven’t really tried the above app, but I have heard it works. If any of you have used it I would like to know what you think. I do not get a commission if you purchase it, in case you were wondering.
Best,
