Important Message from Foscam Digital Technologies Regarding US Sales & Service

We, Foscam.US (aka Foscam Digital Technologies and now Amcrest Technologies), are an independent United States based distributor of "Foscam" branded products. We have been offering telephone support, US local warranty and building the Foscam brand in the US for the past 7 years. However, we are deeply saddened to report that, even after all of this, our overseas suppliers have decided to undercut us and supply to our major customers directly. For this reason, we have no choice but to suspend telephone support for all Foscam branded products. If you have purchased a Foscam camera directly from us or from one of our authorized retailers, technical support is still available via email at support@foscam.us.

For customers who have not purchased from us directly, we advise you to please contact Foscam Shenzhen or the distributor which you have purchased from. In the meantime, we have launched our own new brand of IP cameras called Amcrest, which has superior quality products and full telephone technical support 7 days per week. We hope you can support us in our new venture. For more information, please visit www.Amcrest.com.

Camera not working in wireless mode.

Postby dnissen » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:05 pm

I've followed all the steps over and over trying to making the camera F18918W wireless. But I can't get my network to see the camera. I've added the correct MAC # to my router. Wireless LAN settings are correct. The camera works fine when connected to the router. I've rebooted everything. The camera does not seem to be broadcasting. The green light flashes very slow. It flashes more quickly when attached to the router.

What else can I try? Is there another way to test if the camera is broadcasting it's IP address?

Thank you for your help.

Did you broadcast the SSID of your router?
Did you use special characters in wireless key?

Did you disable mac address filter in your router?
How far from the camera to your router?

If you click scan button, could the camera find your router's wireless?
When you use scan button, pls scan more than two times.
The interval between the first scan and the second scan should be longer than 2 minutes.

Thank you Mycam for the quick reply. Let me answer all your questions first.

Did you broadcast the SSID of your router? I'm not totally clear on your question, but under "Wireless LAN Settings" I do have my correct SSID displayed.
Did you use special characters in wireless key? No

Did you disable mac address filter in your router? Yes
How far from the camera to your router?About 3 feet

If you click scan button, could the camera find your router's wireless?Yes
When you use scan button, pls scan more than two times.
The interval between the first scan and the second scan should be longer than 2 minutes.

I'm not sure what else to try. I've followed the Foscam online instructions diligently.

When I click on "Device Info", I get the Device ID for the wired MAC ID. Shouldn't I also have a Device ID for the wireless MAC ID? When I click on Multi-Device Settings it asks for, among other things, a Host for the 2nd device. But I don't know the camera's wireless IP address. Should I be creating this second device for the wireless?

Am I on track here or am I totally lost?

I had forgotten to enter the Shared Key on the Wireless LAN Settings tab. Once I entered the key it worked fine.
