FI8608W Questions

Postby yds » Wed Jul 18, 2012 7:10 pm

Hi. Couple of questions about the FI8608W.

Is this camera's web ui viewable from a Linux box? The manual indicates that in order to view the web ui in a browser other than IE, one must download the Quicktime application. I don't believe QT is available for linux, is it?

Can someone provide me with the urls to access the RTSP, HTTP, and snapshots (if available) from the FI8608W? I think I know the RTSP one - rtsp://your-ip/11 - but if someone could confirm that would be great.

Is it possible to change the user names? I see it has defaults (admin, user, and guest). Can I change and/or add to these??

Great info UberOverLord! Thanks.

Any insights on my question about Linux? Or changing access names?

Also, another question. Is it possible to access files saved to the camera's SD card from other computers on the network?

Scratch my question about user names. Just read in documentation that user names cannot be changed. And the documentation also shows how to access the SD card files from the webui. However, I'd still like to know if there is a direct path to the SD card so that one doesn't have to go through the web ui.

Thanks.

Nothing on QuickTime for Linux. I have 5 systems I run Ubuntu on one of them.

VLC has Linux Distros:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html#download

For SD, you can see stats of usage, format, but not access directly contents of the SD.

Code: Select all
("Stops using the SD card.")
http://IPaddress:port/web/cgi-bin/hi3510/sdstop.cgi

("Shows SD usage, free space and Status")
http://IPaddress:port/web/cgi-bin/hi3510/param.cgi?cmd=getserverinfo

("Shows Alarm Settings, includes SD information")
http://IPaddress:port/web/cgi-bin/hi3510/param.cgi?cmd=getmdalarm

You can also use these as well:

Code: Select all
http://IPaddress:port/web/login11.htm

http://IPaddress:port/web/syslog.html

http://IPaddress:port/web/accesslog.html

http://IPaddrress:port/web/alarmin.html

http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:##/livestream/12?action=play&media=video_audio&username=&password=

Not having any luck accessing the http feeds (either through VLC, or embedding the code in a web page) as described above. I've made sure my IP and port numbers are correct, and used all of the admin:admin, user:user, and guest:guest username:password combos.

RTSP works fine in VLC, and the jpeg images are working. None of the iphone urls seem to work (from VLC) either. I get asked for the user:password, but then VLC says can't play.

And so I guess I'm SOL with respect to seeing any video through the onboard web ui from a linux box then (almost all my boxes are linux - just one Windoze box).

Please try this:

rstp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:##/iphone/11?name=&Password=

Of course you will need to use a name and password above.

Nope. That's not working either (and I tried with "name" as above, as well as with "username", and of course using the various username password combos).

The iphone stuff is not as important to me as getting the http feed working. I need that one. Beginning to think I should just have gone with the 8910W rather than this h.264 version.

What exactly do you see going on when you try to access the camera using the normal interface?

Do you have any Linux log data, that might show what's going on?

When I log into the camera's web interface, using Firefox on Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit), I can see everything (the visitor, operator, and administrator tabs) except the picture - its just black. If I click my mouse on the picture an error message pops up; "An error occured Could not determine type of stream". Here's a picture. Not sure which log file might be most helpful.

And I'd still like to be able to access an http feed so that I can embed the stream in a web page (as I do with my other ipcams).
