FI8910W - Can the internal LED be turned off?

Postby FI8910WUser » Tue Apr 03, 2012 1:28 am

When the FI8910W is operating at night there is a faint internal light that flickers when network activity is happening. On the UI I do not have Network Lamp ticked so it is not that, it must be something else. In daylight it is not noticable but at night (with no room lights on) the flashing freaks out my baby whom the camera is monitoring.

Before I dismantle the camera to put a blob of putty over the offending LED I want to check there is not something obvious I've missed?

There's network lamp tick on basic networking settings. If there is not, dowload the latest firmware for FI8910.
Register on Foscam official website http://www.foscam.com/help.aspx first, and then download from http://www.foscam.com/down3.aspx .

As i said, on the UI I do not have Network Lamp ticked so it is not that. I have tried ticking it and unticking it. I also have the latest system/WebUI firmware installed.

Looks like its a blob of putty :) (I have to open it anyway as I want to do the microphone fix - swap the terminals and change a resistor)

So does mine. But like I said (twice now) I do not have Network Lamp ticked so it is not that. I have tried ticking it and unticking it.

But, I stuck a blob of blu-tac over the LED and problem is gone away. Thankyou for your help.

I don't think they're taking about the network LED on the back of the unit.

It sounds like there's another LED mounted to the board inside the unit, maybe a heartbeat LED?

Hi FI8910User,

I have the same internal network light flickering problem as you do. Thanks so much for posting to the forum about this; we are planning on using the web cam as a baby monitor and weren't sure if the light flashing would bother our son, but clearly it's bothering your child so I have to assume it will be a problem for ours, too.

Can you tell me if you have the white or black model? We have the white one, and I have to assume that the white plastic case is more susceptible to the flashing problem than the black case would be. Sadly nobody has responded to my forum post on this issue to let me know if they had problems with the white or black model.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

paillassou,

Thanks for posting a reply, but that's not the problem. The IR lights don't bother me.

This is the problem - the green glow/flashing from inside the case.
