new FI8918W problem to find WIFI channel 13 ???

Postby paillassou » Tue Nov 09, 2010 4:38 am

Hello to everyone from France!

Are you able to connect the new camera FI8918W to a wireless network on channel 13 ?

I am forced to switch to channel 11 for the FI8918W found my wireless network.

I've got 3 other old FI8908W and I have no problem / they are all connected on channel 13

Thank you for your answers ;)

hello,

I had the same problem, I can't connect on channel 13.
Do you also have the problem with the sound and IR lights going out?

Hello, for the moment:

1) i've noticed the BIG pb to connect the new one FI8918W to my wireless network channel 13...

actually my 2 others FI8908W are connected perfectly on my WIFI SSID channel 13

i've just tried the sound => i notice a big latency (time delay) for the sound

due to the Audio buffer (i think)...

(ie. when i talk front of the PC's mic the sound is heard 2s after on the cam..)
(ie. when i talk front of the CAM's mic the sound is heard 2s after on the PC..)

Then your sound is working.
My sound from the cam is not working and if you read the forum a lot of people have problems with it.

1st Mail send to FOSCAM (sorry for my bad english)
====================================================================================
here is a start of solution for you ;)
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions ... et-630051/
your WLAN WIFI USB module is a WT-USB-25S
http://www.widetell.com
VID_148F&PID_2573 (details on windows)
it contains chips RALINK:
WT-USB-25S RALINK RT2571WF(MAC) RT2528(RF)
So, according to the country, you must change the country-code (in the driver)
and the i suggest to put EU & JAPAN for the country code that the channel go to channe 14
in your actual driver (µlinux) you have put a inferior contry code "US" wich stop to channel 11 only...
Best regards
Stéphane

===========================================
2nd mail send to FOSCAM
===========================================
FYI
to test the WLAN USB internal adapter
-i have removed the wlan usb module WT-USB-25S RALINK from inside de FI8918W
-i have plug directly on my windows PC (XPSP3) with a usb cable 4 wire (VCC / data+ / data- / GND)
-the generic driver RT73 has been installed correcty
-i've changed the country code region thru the windows driver (1-11 by default) to 1-13
=> PERFECT => the WLAN USB adapter of the FI8918W SEE correctly the WIFI channel 13
GOOD NEWS / YES !!!!
so you must do the same thing on your internal µLINUX driver (ROMFS.img or LINUX.zip)
=> change the country code to JAPAN (in that case it rises to channel 14 ;)
so, on windows XP SP3, the WLAN USB internal adapter RT73 of the FI8918W works PERFECTLY on channel 13 !
but not in the FOSCAM FI8918W.... it's a shame :( ....
Bye
