Important Message from Foscam Digital Technologies Regarding US Sales & Service

We, Foscam.US (aka Foscam Digital Technologies and now Amcrest Technologies), are an independent United States based distributor of "Foscam" branded products. We have been offering telephone support, US local warranty and building the Foscam brand in the US for the past 7 years. However, we are deeply saddened to report that, even after all of this, our overseas suppliers have decided to undercut us and supply to our major customers directly. For this reason, we have no choice but to suspend telephone support for all Foscam branded products. If you have purchased a Foscam camera directly from us or from one of our authorized retailers, technical support is still available via email at

For customers who have not purchased from us directly, we advise you to please contact Foscam Shenzhen or the distributor which you have purchased from. In the meantime, we have launched our own new brand of IP cameras called Amcrest, which has superior quality products and full telephone technical support 7 days per week. We hope you can support us in our new venture. For more information, please visit

Mac OS and Chrome Plugin

Postby kappabear » Sat Jan 05, 2013 1:53 pm

Hi all,

I'm on a Mac running Mac OS 10.8.2, and my default browser is Google Chrome (version 23.0.1271.101). When I connect to my FI9821W cameras in Chrome, it says "Plugins are not found, Click me to download". However, I've downloaded the plugin, and manually added it to the Extensions tab, and it's Enabled. I've even removed it and reinstalled it, rebooted the browser and the computer, but it still says that it's misisng the plugin. How do I resolve this issue?

The plugin works in Safari, and I can connect to and view the camera.

I do have exactly the same problem as previously described.
I do have a FI9831W camera, and I'm using Chrome on MAC.

Questions :
- Does Foscam plan to correct the Chrome Plugin for MAC ? And by when ?
- Is this problem valid for ALL Foscam cameras, since I plan to by some more, but the prerequisite, is that I can view the images from Chrome on MAC & PC.

P.S. : I can't envisage to use Safari on my MAC, since I share Chrome with PCs and Android equipments.

Thank you for your feedback

+1 please fix it ... I never use Safari, always use Google Chrome ...
It installs in Chrome by the way, just is not recognized by the Foscam Web UI.

I got it to work in Chrome!!!

Installing the plugin manually in Chrome and then install the plugin in Safari "trust" it and getting working in Safari. Once working in Safari close Chrome and re open it.

Mine just started working... I'm wondering if there was a Chrome update that helped out.

Well, magically, Chrome started working with the Foscam cameras today. I'm not sure what changed. I checked Extensions and there's nothing new there, so it must be the new version of Chrome that I'm running: 41.0.2224.3.

One thing that has changed is that Chrome is now, finally, a 64-bit application on the Mac. Safari has been a 64-bit application for a couple years. Other than that, I'm not sure what else is different, but the new version of Chrome definitely works with the Foscam web configuration utility.

I just upgraded a new FI9826W to the latest firmware, and the result is that I need new plugins for the browsers.
When I click the link in Safari to download the plugin, it downloads an IPCWebComponents.exe file, which of course won't work on a Mac!

I can make that file work under Parallels in Windows 8.1 in Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which saved the day, since the camera came up inverted and flipped from what it needs to be.

But I can no longer see video on the Mac. I've tried FireFox, Chrome, and Safari, and have reloaded and restarted the browsers etc with no luck.

Surely some people do run these on Macs? I'm running OS X.10.1, latest browser versions.
