FI8905W Night-Vision broken ?
Hi,
After few days of working very well my foscam camera just stopped switching to night-mode. The IR LED's are turning ON but image is dark and full of colors (should be of course b/w and not so dark
).
Could somebody point me into a solution ?
I'v tried:
1. factory defaults
2. rebooting
3. power reset
Nothing worked.
Is there any chance that i can fix the problem myself ? Maybe lens problem ? It's very important for me to fix it as fast as it could be fixed.

It should be the it-cut filter defective.you want to fix yourself?
If you do not need the ir-cut,you have to change the whole black-white lens to a color lens without ir-cut.
You can also change the defective ir-cut filter, but need to contact with your reseller to have it,as other ir-cut filter maybe not fit for our cameras.

Wait a minute... So the ir-cut filter is part of the lens yes ? How can it be that it's damaged/broken ? Damaged it self ?

Foscam list the storage temperature for the 8905W at 14°F ~ 140°F. There is no listing for the operating temperature. Many low cost bullet IP cameras are not rated for temperatures below 32°F. Is you outside temperature below 32°F?
I would try bring it inside your house. Let it warm up for many hours and then see if the IR leds come on in total darkeness. If it doesn't then your IR cut filter needs to be replaced. If it is still under warranty, I would send it back to the reseller and have them replace the camera.

Dude... I'v already said that IR Led's are going ON on darkness, but picture is very dark and colorfull (what means it's not filtering IR light).

Re: FI8905W Night-Vision broken ?
Ok try this:
1. When it's absolutely pitch black outside, shine a bright torch directly onto the lens of the camera (doesn't have to be close-range, just ensure the lens gets enough bright light - and by bright I mean bordering on blinding lol). Leave it shining on the lens for about 5 - 10 secs. Now turn the torch off. You should hear a 'click'. Check image. If it's still black, repeat the above a couple of time.
2. Adjust the camera cover (slide it back a little which allows more light to get to the lens).
3. Using a lint-free cloth (and possibly a feather duster) clean the lens, housing etc. of all cobwebs.
Funnily enough I had the same problem, tried (1) it worked but was a pain in the a$$ and then went on to (2) which worked as an interim solution but (3) solved the problem and now it works fine.
Let us know how you go!

Re: FI8905W Night-Vision broken ?
I installed an 8905 for my sister, night vision was working perfectly when I left , and a few weeks later just stopped working.
She confirmed that she can see the IR LEDs illuminating, but the image is black. Interestingly enough if she puts a long square cardboard box over the lens you can see the bottom of the box ( very close to the lens mind you ) but if you take the box off the image is just black.
Its almost like the IR LED's are running at very low power?
I was under the understanding the " click/clunk " you hear is the relay switching ON the IR LEDs , not switching modes of the lens?
Could the relay be the fault??
I will get her to try the fixes ( clean glass , shine torch on it etc) and see if that helps. Other than that , what is the process for getting an RA??
I have a spare Lens ( 8mm ) that I could try to swap for her , does anyone think this would fix the problem ???
